Dear Alumni of the AAUP Colombo Chapter,
I am deeply honored and delighted to address you as the newly reelected President of the AAUP-CC for a second term at the 35th Annual General Meeting held on 29th March 2026 at Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration (SLIDA). Serving alongside Mr. Chandika Indikadahena as General Secretary and Eng. S M Gnanarathna as Treasurer is a privilege, and their continued support—together with the strength, dedication, and guidance of our reelected office bearers and the Council of Management—provides an immense foundation as we move forward.
As we embark on this journey together, I am filled with optimism and determination. Our Association is comprised of some of the most dedicated individuals, and I am confident that with your continued support, we will achieve remarkable goals and make a lasting difference in our community. Let us move forward with a shared vision and a united spirit, ready to embrace both the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
In this spirit of shared vision, I am thrilled to share a major milestone. Our fundraising initiative to support the rebuilding efforts of the University of Peradeniya—specifically for disaster recovery following the Ditwah cyclone and floods—has been successfully completed. By the end of February 2026, contributions exceeded Rs. One Million. This achievement was made possible by the exceptional generosity of our Management Council, AAUP Colombo Chapter members, and the global alumni network. Thank you for being an integral part of this journey and for standing with the AAUP Colombo Chapter. This success is a direct result of your generosity, and your contributions will be put to the absolute best use under the "Rebuild Pera Recovery and Rehabilitation Programme."
Looking ahead, I take this opportunity to invite all alumni of the University of Peradeniya to join us and play an active role in achieving the objectives of the Colombo Chapter.
